Wisconsin Water Levels & the Daily Bite

Live levels for Wisconsin's walleye, muskie & smallmouth waters — Lake Winnebago, the Wisconsin River flowages, the great northern flowages and Green Bay. Every tube shows the level, the water's two signature fish (hover for the species, click for 2026 tournaments), and a live bite gauge at left. Scroll down for the Driftless trout streams, the catfish & walleye rivers, and the smallmouth float rivers.

Each cylinder is scaled to its own band: the gold line is normal pool/level, the red line is the high-water line, and the blue water is the live reading. Reservoir flowages report pool elevation (ft MSL); some lake gauges report a local stage in feet. The colored bar at left is a solunar bite forecast for right now (red = slow, green = hot).

Trout & Steelhead — Cold-Water Rivers

Wisconsin's Driftless Area holds hundreds of miles of cold spring creeks full of wild brown & rainbow trout — the Kickapoo is a classic. The cylinder shows live flow (cfs): low & clear = wade it, high = blown out. Hover a trout for the species; tap it for a guide.

Driftless creeks fish best low and clear; they spike fast and muddy after rain, then drop within a day or two.

River Catfish & Walleye Runs

The Wolf and Wisconsin rivers give up flathead & channel catfish — and stack walleye on the wing-dams and below the dams in spring. Live river stage (ft) from NOAA with the action and flood stages marked. Hover a cat for the species; tap it for a guide.

Float Rivers — Smallmouth & Walleye

Smallmouth & walleye float water — the Mississippi backwaters of Pool 8, the free-flowing Chippewa, the southern Rock and the marsh-fed upper Fox. Live gage height (ft); each tube marks FLOAT, EXPERT and FLOOD. Hover a fish; tap it for an outfitter.

The Mississippi pools fluctuate with the locks & dams; the inland rivers jump after rain and settle to clean wading levels.
